iPhone 4S in charge: Siri hacker uses to "control" car - Macworld Brazil

* Text news *

Last week, news has been posted on the web showing how hackers were able to use the new voice assistant Siri, exclusive iPhone 4S, to do more than just notes and weather forecasts. Since then, more people moved in the matter and found other ways by which the resource can control things through a proxy server. But the ability of all these more interesting is the use of Siri to control functions of a car.

Brendon Fiquett

developer created this hack using a proxy server and a plugin that lets you send commands to the car. So far, the Siri can lock and unlock the car, open the trunk and turn on and off the vehicle.

For this, the voice feature responds to commands like “Start Vehicle” (“Start vehicle”), “Vehicle Stop” (“Stop vehicle”), “Vehicle Trunk Pop” (“Close the trunk of vehicle” ), and other more informal: “Start my car” (“Call my car”), “Lock my car” (“Lock my car”), “Pop my trunk” (“Close my trunk”) .

Of course this will not work on any car – the car has Fiquett Viper SmartStart system installed so it can be controlled remotely. Thus, vehicles without some kind of remote control may not benefit from this technology. But if you can remotely control your car, it can be something good in the future for those who often forget / lose the keys, or may never find them in the bag.

Check out a video showing the Siri Fiquett connecting the engine of your car. For more technical details and what it takes to make this experiment, see his blog.

Remember, the iPhone 4S has been approved by the FCC and should reach the Brazilian market by the end of the year.
