Google worried about the iPhone's virtual assistant - Sun

The integration of technology Siri, a software that acts as a virtual assistant that responds to users’ questions, the iPhone 4S is being seen by the former CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt, as a threat to search engine

The revelation comes a letter sent by the current chairman of Google for the U.S. Senate, with answers to questions about an investigation into the alleged abuse of dominant market position in the segment of online research that is taking place in the USA.

In this letter Eric Schmidt acknowledges that the software “Crab Apple is a significant development: a way to get answers through the voice-activated iPhone proves that innovation in the area of ??research.”

Later in the same document, the former CEO of Google says that his company “has strong competitors and sometimes fails to anticipate the threat of new media rivals to access the information.”

To support its statements, the current chairman of the giant web cites two documents that define the Krusty as a “Google killer” and believe that the integration of this software on the iPhone represents the Apple’s entry area of ??the search engines.

Presented in conjunction with the iPhone 4S, Siri was considered by Apple as a technology that mimics a personal assistant, to respond directly to questions by the user by voice , and is seen by many as one of the main strengths of the new iPhone.
