companies more flexible
iPass said that these results do not indicate that the BlackBerry market share fell, but the rapid growth of alternatives in the corporate market, and devices like the iPhone Android. Overall, the company estimated that the increase of iPhones and Androids in business is "a reflection of more choice in the corporate market," since 73% of companies allows devices that are not managed by the IT industry content and access corporate resources.

The research

iPass is the second stu dy in recent months shows that the decrease in the presence of the BlackBerry device as the dominant companies. A survey by EMA (Enterprise Management Associates) in the last month rose to 30% of RIM smartphone users in companies with 10 000 employees or more plans to move to a different platform from next year. EMA stated that this will lead to a significant decrease in the BlackBerry market share in large companies, currently 52%.

"We expected to observe a loss of market share from RIM, but these results were more dramatic than we had anticipated" judge Steve Brasen, managing director of research at MPE. "Both companies and employees indicate that BlackBerry devices are leaving in large numbers and opting for iOS and Android platforms, and data were collected prior to failure of the BlackBerry service, which can further accelerate this migration.

RIM's market presence in the smartphone industry has declined steadily over the last two years. Nielsen said tha t the Blackberry this quarter represent only 18% of all smartphones used in the U.S., far behind Android (43%) and iPhone (28%). RIM suffered last month with a flaw that completely paralyzed the company's services for four days. In order to remedy the problem, the company offered free applications to consumers.
